Wheels appear too small due to bad design, too many fake air intakes, ugly, one cut me off today.
Nope.

That's surprisingly ugly, the last gen was pretty decent looking.

The last one had nice proportions, this is a mess.

The wheels aren't too small. They are perfectly fine. You don't need 17-inch rims in a fucking Fit, nor do you need the low profile look or the ride they provide, or the fuel economy penalty or the shorter tread life and higher cost. If they're at least 13 inch wheels, they're fine.
I'm actually surprised you didn't mention the fact that they're now made in Mexico. Some people prefer the Japanese manufacture of the older Fits.
But you know what? Regardless of the looks, Honda made one HUGE improvement on this new Fit: it's FINALLY available with a sunroof! w00t w0000000000000000000t
Oh and also a cool shade of yellow

One more thing - how do I get approved to post here? In Manhattan, and I really need to vent on cars sometimes ....

Look at the wheels on a Nissan Note, they fit perfectly.
The ones on the Honda do not.

Oh, you need a mod to grant you authorship, they have these "Opening Threads" but I'll just share your reply to Oppo.

I'm on your side. I really liked the first gen look, but this looks like some kind of impregnated termite queen that was forcefully inseminated by a Fiesta ST.

I really don't like this dead space. They could have easily done something with it, but they didn't.

The wheels aren't too small, the poor design of the car makes them appear too small.

I think that is the most accurate description of the Fit. The last one had nice proportions, this one looks bad.

And when they did do something it looks overdone, like all those creases and cuts.
HFV has no HFV. But somehow has 2 motorcycles

They really did ruin it. And the fit has been my favorite Honda since the S2000 got killed off.

Here's my question - the long way around.
When I got my '97 SHO (yes, I know you're sick of hearing about that car), I evaluated the stock sound system (perfect pitch, 11 years classical piano) and decided I would spend thousands to upgrade it! Then I listened to a couple CDs (George Thorogood, Bach, Beethoven) and thought, "how good does sound have to be in a car?"
Similary here - while it's a sin for cars this size to be boring, do we really care how they look? Yeah, I could redesign the rear end (with no training!) to look better, but does it need to?
Kept the stock system in the SHO by the way - 95K later I was glad I did.

The problem is that they did such a shitty job. Of course no one would expect a small cheap japanese car to look like an Aston, but it should at least have nice proportions and a clean design. When you pay 5 dollars for a burger you don't expect it to look like something from a 3 Michelin Star restaurant, but it also shouldn't look like something your dog has just barfed.

Fair enough - I recall that a few years ago Honda introduced a new Civic and had to immediately redesign it because it was so poorly received. Any chance of that here, in your opinion?

I don't think so, that is just my perception of how the car looks, maybe other people will like how "modern" it is or that it is very different from the last one.

I agree on the wheels. Maybe it could use taller sidewalls. Overall I like the Fit. Still in the "potential next car" pool for me.

They could have continued the crease into the front 1/4 panel for some continuity ... and if those are wheels in the top photo, they look like wheel covers. No way this car should leave the factory with wheel covers. I like the big front windscreen, but the C-pillar looks like it eliminates visibility. The upsweep of the back door is severe - don't know if all the metal in the back is for crush test, but the design could be airier. And shouldn't they offer a 2-door versions? OK - maybe I'm on board with the bad design now. Geeze - I sound like this guy .

Now if only Toyota would offer their panoramic sunroof on US-bound Yarises! (available on FDM models)
